Aviu Sorotzky is Israel National Ice Hockey team goalie. IHFI web-site presents exclusive interview with Aviu:

"I was born in Zefat on July 22nd, 1984.

I started playing hockey at the age of 11 and my coach was  Boris Mindel.  Boris raised me as a player ever since.  Originally I started playing hockey because my sister, Stav, played ice hockey. She was the first female ice hockey player in Israel.

I played on the Metula youth team, and the Israeli national team from 1998 to 2002.  During these years I participated in two tournaments, one in the U.S. and the other in Canada.

After concluding my military service, in 2007, I flew to Canada, where I joined the ASBESTOS professional ice hockey team.

Since 2007 I am a member of the adult national hockey team. I  participated in a number of world championships, including the world championship  in South Korea, where we reached third place, bronze medal, Romania, Serbia, Estonia, South Africa, reaching first place, gold medal.

In 2007, I participated in the Jewish World Championships in Metulla.

In 2009, we won second place, silver medal on the Jewish World Championship 2009 that took place in Metua,

During the years 2007 to 2010, I played with Ma'alot ice hockey club, and won the national championship once with them.

I won the season's MVP in 2009, with Ma'alot ice hockey club.

Since 2010 - until this day,  I am playing with Matula ice hooky club, and I won the championship with them.

Hockey in Israel is evolving rapidly.  I believe that with hard work, we could reach distant goals.  In addition, we could prove to the world that even a hot country such as Israel, hockey not only is alive but it is striving."
